What am I Carrying ?

A picture paints a thousand words

Fully Loaded Simulation Ride From Genting Sempah to Bentong

With 4 days left to my departure, I went for my final test ride on 8 May  from Genting Sempah to Bentong, a total distance of 72 km to and flo with Rita who is riding with her Red scott mtb. I carried with me all my stuffs including 4 Ortlied bags ( front 2 and back 2 ) and another Lotus saddle bag at the rear rack where I keep my easy accessible stuffs like camera, wallet, sunblock, pump tubes etc..for a total weight of 24 kg + 1.5 litre of water under the seat. The downhill to hotspring was fast due to the extra weight but i waited for Rita cos' it was her first ride here. We took 1 and half hour to reach Bentong town but the famous Kow Po ice-cream shop as usual not open yet at 10.20am. Continue riding to town looking for food, a surprise stop at the Vietnamese beef noodle shop saw Sam and Michelle with their foldies. The journey on the wayback was a real challenge from the hotspring start, climbing with a 25kg fully loaded recumbent. At the end we reached the Genting Sempah RnR at 4 pm . Happy with our acheivement but was rather sad with the sold out of ABC which we were hoping to enjoy...

Testing my new full suspension recumbent on pcc Interstate

After riding my new recumbent with the pcc organised interstate from Raub to Bukit Merah ( I did not complete the 3rd day ride to Lumut ), overall I am quite satisfied with its performance. On taking the steep long climbs to Ringlet, the new fully suspension HP recumbent is slower than my old rigid recumbent as small percentage of  power went to the suspension. But on the other end,the suspension provided a more smoother and comfort ride on rough patches, especially obvious when taking a downhill corner. It was FAST and EASY which overtook many fast racing uprights. I also able to identify a few minor shortcomings and do a correction before flying for my Europe Alps tour staring from 11 May till 24 Aug 2011.
